YUBA CITY / SUTTER COUNTY — October 27, 2026. One of Northern California’s largest annual community gatherings returns this weekend. The 2026 Nagar Kirtan Sikh Festival and Parade is scheduled from October 30 through November 1, with thousands of visitors, free community meals and a Sunday procession in the Yuba City area. Authorities have published specific maps for residents and drivers who may be affected by road closures.
When will streets close?
According to a city and county-supported 2026 transportation information page, Friday, October 30 closures are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday, October 31 restrictions from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Some affected intersections include Hooper Road at Butte House Road and True Road, Pepperwood Drive at Butte House Road, Delle Drive at Butte House Road, and nearby residential streets. Southbound Tierra Buena Road has additional evening restrictions starting at 5 p.m.
On Sunday, November 1, some parade closures may start as early as 7 a.m., while True Road restrictions are expected around 9:30 a.m. Roads may not reopen until the procession has passed and public safety officials deem reopening safe; 6 p.m. is not a guaranteed reopening time.
Resident access passes: act before Friday
Households in designated neighborhood zones are encouraged to obtain resident access passes from the Yuba City Police Department, 1545 Poole Boulevard, during regular business hours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday before October 30. Officers may require residents without a pass to show an identification document demonstrating they live in the controlled neighborhood.
Parking restrictions matter
County visitor guidance lists designated parking including 658 El Margarita Road and River Valley High School’s west lot, subject to availability. Parking at Redding Avenue carries an important condition: the county warns vehicles parked there Sunday cannot leave until the parade has concluded. Prohibited roadside parking may result in towing. Visitors should consult the official 2026 map rather than assuming ordinary parking or shortcuts remain usable.
Festival schedule and respect for the community
The Sikh celebration includes religious services, an open house and a parade. The 2026 schedule lists a 10 a.m. Sunday procession on November 1 beginning from the temple area. Free food is part of the tradition of langar and community hospitality. Visitors should respect the religious setting, follow hosts’ instructions and be prepared for heavy pedestrian traffic.
